Abandoning the sinking ship

Roger Douglas and Derek Quigley have resigned as ACT's patrons - but not because of ACT's conservatism on social issues, but because it has failed to push a hard right economic agenda sufficiently. I guess there's also the Brash factor to take into account - with Don as leader of National, why would the advocates of market darwinism waste their time on a lesser electoral vehicle?
