There will be no Middle East peace without justice

  1. "there will be no mddle east peace without justice"

now it is that sort of attitude that is the problem.
We alreadly know various people have differing concepts of what is "justice" or "fair" peace comes when one or both sides realise that their ideal "justice" is just not worth the pain they are inflicting on themselves by fighting for it.
then the first step is what fisk is pouring scorn upon - the decision to stop taking actions that will require retribution or "justice" to be metered out.

  2. Actually, he's pointing out that unless the underlying causes of conflict are solved - settlements, the continual Israeli acquisition of Palestinian land, the "right of return" - then the killing will inevitably begin again.

At the moment, Palestinian moderates are in charge. But if the Israeli's don't deliver some serious benefits of peace, then the militants will take over, and it'll all be back to square one.
