Augmenting Hansard

A reader has pointed me at their Firefox greasemonkey script to augment Hansard. Basically, it sits on top of Firefox and adds photos and links to the "plain" official Hansard. Unfortunately, I don't use Firefox (yet - I will when my new computer finally comes together), but someone else out there might be interested.

  1. While it sounds like a cool toy, those using Greasemonkey should uninstall it or
upgrade to 3.5, as there is a critical security issue with earlier versions.

  2. The long term plan is to cover the NZ Parliament with a website similar to UK's TheyWorkForYou. The greasemonkey script was an interesting diversion along the way. But yes the script would need to be extended after the election. I may even add some tweaks to it in the short-term as well.

It was the Greasemonkey extension that motivated me to move from the Mozilla browser to Firefox. James, thanks for mentioning that users should install Greasemonkey 0.3.5 to avoid security issues with prior versions.

I'm presenting the script at Open Tech 2005 in London on Sat 23 Jul.
