Ever since hearing about the Deep Impact probe, I'd been planning to go outside and watch it hit. While I didn't expect to see much (if anything), there was some suggestion that people might have been able to see a momentary flash - though doing the maths, its only about a hundreth of a kiloton, so that possibility was grossly overstated. But there's two reasons why I won't be bothering: a) it will happen at 4:52 this evening, so it will be too light out; and b) it will be cloudy.
If a chunk of it breaks away and heads for Earth let it impact on America.
ReplyDeleteAs far as 4th of July nationalism and hubris goes it would be fitting.
