The UN has issued its report on Zimbabwe's clearances, saying that "the scale of suffering is immense" and that they had been carried out in "an indiscriminate and unjustified manner, with indifference to human suffering". And it calls for the prosecution of all those who "orchestrated this catastrophe and those who may have caused criminal negligence leading to alleged deaths" - laying the groundwork for Mugabe and key members of his government to be put before the ICC.

ReplyDeleteWhat a demented wee man you are. Has it not been amply demonstrated that they do not "want" to go - they are contractually bound to go. Failing which they, whose employement it is to play cricket, lose their income and the ability to pay their taxes into the ever-increasing Cullen stockpile, and the ICC punishes NZ Cricket in very large $ amounts. To put a political slant on NZ Cricket's decision to honour their contract is, pardon the expression, sheer crap.

Sport does not exist in a moral and political vacuum. There is a clear way out of this that would result in no punishment from the ICC and no infringement on NZers right to travel. Unfortunately our government is too gutless when it comes to human rights to pursue it. This will certainly be noted when I cast my vote.
