Proudly independent

Span has an interesting list of blogs by party affliation. What's striking is how few of the major blogs are independent; most are run by party members (sometimes outright hacks) of one shade or another. On the left, the only major independent blogs are Public Address, Fighting Talk, and the one you're reading right now. On the right, I think you'd need to go diving in the sewer to find one.

  1. I wouldn't claim my humble rantings as *major* - but I do consider myself vagely leftist and I don't belong to any political parties.

  2. Also, I think Lewis Holden used to declare his young-National allegience on his blog - but I might be wrong.

Don't think Millsy belongs to any political parties?? Does Tim Selwyn?

  3. Rich: Act/Act, Act/Act, Act/Act - I even worked for Act at one stage! But, Steven Franks as Justice Minister - never!

Considering the Maori Party don't have many policies at all and they are probably open to suggestions, I'd be closer to them at the moment (considering I hate all the major parties esp. over Foreshore & Seabed Act). I don't agree with a lot of what I've heard, but I think they are looking for pragmatic solutions in a principled framework and are too early down the tracks to have formed it all yet. They need some PR help - I feel as though I should be helping them. But I am certainly not a member.

So, rack me up as an independent.
