Cabinet announced

The interesting news (to me) is that Goff is out of Justice (yay!), David Benson-Pope gets Social Development and Environment, David Cunliffe is Minister of Immigration (and thus the person who may decide Ahmed Zaoui's fate), and David Parker gets Energy, Transport, and Climate Change. Clearly, this government has a thing for people called "David".

The full lineup is here.

  1. Benson-Pope is Minister for the Environment? It is a while since I thought that people got responsibilities related to their aeas of interest but this is from the deep fine leg boundary surely.

  2. Perhaps Deborah Manning can call on the Westie connection to sway Cunliffe to the Cause.

  3. Benson-Pope was Associate Minister for the Environment - and his bio shows some environment-y things.

    Except DPF, one assumes ;-)

In terms of the Westie connection - Silent T lives in Ponsonby I believe, despite holding the New Lynn seat. Which is not necessarily a problem for him, but may be a problem for Deborah, as he won't be as plugged into those West Akld Labour networks I guess.

  6. How about David Hasslefhoff for Minister of Seabed and Foreshore?
