VUW silences its critics

A little bird tells me that Victoria University has just obtained a High Court inunction against Salient , the student magazine, to stop it from going to print. The reason? Apparantly, it contains an article about the university's plan to raise fees by an amount that would require government approval.

I guess the university feels its easier to legally silence people than face criticism from the student body...

  4. Heh, that's awesome. Student publications have struggled for relevancy recently. A lawsuit like this will hugely boost their status — a student mag's not doing its job if it's not irritating the establishment :-)
