How much did Victoria University's ill-advised legal action against Salient cost? Curious, I submitted an OIA request to the university. Here's the response:
The total cost of the injunction proceedings to the University was $12,403.38, which comprised legal fees of $10,803.38 (inclusive of GST) and court filing fees of $1600.00. The decision to seek an injunction was made by Professor Pat Walsh, the Vice-Chancellor of the University.
And of course, the cost of suppressing information of vital interest to the student body will be borne by the students themselves...
