Convenient

Dr Ali Fadhil is an Iraqi journalist, and winner of the Foreign Press Association young journalist of the year award. He had been working for The Guardian and Channel 4 on a documentary about claims that millions of dollars of Iraqi money held by the British and Americans had been embezzled or misused. A few days ago, he approached US officials and asked to conduct an interview about some of their findings. Last night, his house was raided by US troops who were "looking for an Iraqi insurgent". Bullets were fired into the room where Dr Fadhil, his wife and children were sleeping, and he was hooded, detained and questioned for three hours. While he was eventually released, all his tapes relating to the programme were seized.

Convenient, isn't it?
