Out of names VI

Meet Tropical Storm Zeta. This one formed on December 30th, and is currently hanging around in the mid-Atlantic. It is unlikely to be a threat to anyone, but it ties the record for the latest-developing storm of any season. Storms forming after this will use names from the 2006 list.

  1. They move to another alphabet? Or they just switch to a new list of names?

  2. I was watching a documentary on hurricances and a scientist had done research on previous hurricances in the South over thousands of years.

He and his team drilled holes into the earth a various points to see how much salt, etc. was in various layers of sediment in the earth.

By this he could see when hurricances had occurred previously before man arrived in the South and started recording the weather.

Anyway his analysis leads hime to believe that the South is at the tail-end of a quiet patch in the generation of hurricanes.

He stated that more category five hurricances would occur in the near future as the upswing into the active hurricane era started as this is what had happened in the past cycles.

What he said that caused the problem to be worse was the erosion of natural wet land habitats between the sea and cities.
