It seems that somebody was paying attention to my post on John Abizaid and war crimes, and has organised a protest. This is what I got by email:
Meet 1pm outside Defence HQ, Stout Street (near the end of Lambton Quay).General John Abizaid is visiting Wellington today to meet with PM Helen Clark. As commander of CENTCOM, he is the top ranking member of the US military responsible for the occupation of Iraq, reporting directly to defence secretary Donal Rumsfeld. Let him know he is not welcome here!
Good on them.
Do you happen to know which 1pm they're talking about? I've failed to figure out which day he's here :)

ReplyDeleteDoesn't that conflict with the P march
ReplyDeleteA march saying "No to P" seems superfluous when nobody is saying yes to P. Helen Clark isn't giving P dealers official welcomes complete with lines of soldiers, a haka, and a brass band playing the Indiana Jones theme. The weather didn't help the protest turnout, but the protesters did manage to find out Abizaid's arrival time and give the mass murderer a slightly more fitting reception at the airport.
