The SuperSizeMyPay campaign will be holding a march against youth rates in Auckland this weekend. They'll also be capping it off with a free concert: the Big Pay Out:
The event features some of Aotearoa’s greatest live bands including Shona Laing, Olmecha Supreme, 8 Foot Sativa, Stylus and Geneva – a young band made up of some of the worlds first Starbucks strikers.
The march starts from Britomart at 1pm on Saturday, and will wend its way up Queen St. The concert starts at 2pm in Myers Park.
(And congrats to EPMU for eliminating youth rates at BP. Legislation would be better, but in its absence, the problem will just have to be solved one company at a time...)
Your congratulating the EMPU for agreeing to a proposal by BP to abolish youth rates? Could they have done otherwise? (Yes I know unions historically opposed things like pay equity, but still...)

Well, they have been steadily pushing on it for a while, and I think this final success deserves some congratulation.

Why would you congratulate BP? They are the LAST of the major oil companies to get rid of youth rates. None of the others pay them. YOu havbe been badly spun and the EPMU is about 3 years late on the youth rates party. The media coverage has been outrageous on this
