Nothing to do with us

The Iraqi Interior Minister, Bayan Jabr, has denied that the death squads currently terrorising Iraq by disappearing, torturing, and killing people have anything to do with his Ministry. Instead, its all the fault of private security contractors.

Of course it is. That's why US troops keep catching Iraqi Police in the act of murder, and why they keep finding tortured and disappeared detainees in Interior Ministry facilities.

Jabr may really not know about the sickness that has infected his Ministry - but if so then he can only be described at grossly negligent. In a stable democracy, that would result in his resignation. In Iraq's evolving democracy, who knows?

Gods knows how people out side Iraq can help them sort it out.
