The US Army has charged four soldiers with rape and murder over the rape of a teenage girl and murder of her family in Mahmudiya in March. A fifth soldier has been charged with dereliction of duty for failing to report the crime. This is good news, as it shows the US is at least vaguely serious about prosecuting its war criminals - but given the way the US military's "justice" system works, we should wait for convictions and sentences before celebrating.
