The Wellington Palestine Group is holding a public meeting on Monday to discss Israel's bombing of Gaza and Lebanon:
When: Monday, 31st July, 19:30 - 20:30
Where: Crossways Community Centre , Mt Victoria
They are also holding a protest next Friday (August 4th), starting from the Cenotaph on Lambton Quay at 12:30. If you're in Wellington, and angry about what is going on in the Middle East, then this is a good opportunity to show it.

The Wellington Palestine Group is wasting its time.
The United States blocked on Wednesday the U.N. Security Council from issuing a statement that would have condemned Israel's bombing of a UN post on the Lebanon border that killed four military observers.

Nine IDF soldiers died Wednesday and 27 others were injured. The IDF believes Hezbollah lost 15 of its fighters Wednesday...
This war is going to go on a very long time at this rate as both sides. The poor civilians stuck between two armed factions, both guilty of war crimes.

The view of perhaps the most respected member of the Lebanon parliament on what this is all about:
"The Israeli plan ... is in fact that we become divided, leading to the disappearance of the state of Lebanon," Ghassan Tueni, the owner of an-Nahar newspaper wrote in a front-page editorial.

Just a suggestion for genuine peace supporters: if people show up chanting "Up up Hezbollah, Burn down Israel" like they did at the Queen Street march last Saturday, you ought to distance yourselves from them. Israel might deserve criticism for its actions, but to allow Hezbollah supporters to appear to be on your side would be like Women's Refuge accepting help from the American Men Boy Love Association.

If anyone tries to paint Hizbollah or Hamas as the defenders of the underdog, they'll find out what I think.

George (and others): Hizbolla, Hamas, the PLO, and others like them are the defenders of the innocents in their countries, their occaisional criminal actions notwithstanding. They have to be when no one else is willing in the slightest, and the UN fails them again and again.
Fuck Israel: a militant apartied state destroying its neighbour over nothing. Bravo to Hizbolla for sending a taste of it back to the otherwise ignorant Isrealis. BRAVO for killing the invading soldiers.
So, tell me what you think, big man.
