Drawn

A special ballot was held for Member's Bills today, to fill the slot vacated by the postponement of Georgina Beyer's Human Rights (Gender Identity) Amendment Bill, and the following bill was drawn:

  • Regulatory Responsibility Bill (Rodney Hide)

I covered the bill last week, here.

This is the third bill Rodney has had drawn from the ballot, out of 23 so far this year. Maybe I should start talking about ACT ballot mojo as well as the Greens'...

  1. Referring back to your very first "ballot" post, where you mentioned Maryan Street's compulsory-insurance-for-tenants bill. The NZ Herald is carrying an article re the submissions on the bill:

In essence the insurance companies are saying this bill could open the opportunity for them to charge some hefty premiums, or refuse to provide insurance for, tenants with a bad history. If you can't obtain insurance, or can obtain only expensive insurance, it's going to make life very difficult for some to get rental accommodation.

    M'lud.
