Don Brash has bowed to the inevitable and lifted his injunction - allowing The Hollow Men to be published. It should be available in the next few days, and I'm looking forward to reading it to learn exactly how deceitful he's been (and to see who else among National's top echelon is implicated).
Actually, I'd be interested to read it (as opposed to *buy* it to see if Hagar has over-egged his pudding again or whether there really is something big he's managed to get a hold of!
ReplyDeleteThe truth is out, and the signs were there all along that this book was going to be a bombshell - there are now some very deep questions supporters of the right need to ask themselves - I interviewed Richard Griffin on RNZ yesterday (check the interview out - www.tumeke.blogspot.com) and he said this was as bad as it gets! Scoop have already passed judgement and it is not good!
ReplyDeleteOH GOODNESS!
ReplyDeleteIt's a common movie cliche for an evil overlord to describe in intricate detail their fullproof plan for world domination. I can't get that image out of my mind when I read through this Exclusive Brethren email to Don Brash and John Key. The email sets out the entire plan in breathtaking detail including: A "Getting Party Votes for National" campaign (including exact campaign spending totals); seven nationally distributed flyers; a campaign to build mistrust in the present goverment and trust in a Don Brash led National Government; the need for a meeting; and finally the astonishing admission that this member of the EB is "essentially working on our/your election campaign full time."
Make that another meeting: "a meeting following on from our one last week with Steven Joyce is important."
ReplyDeleteSteven Joyce is National's election campaign manager.
Anon: but do the Brethren like cats?
ReplyDeleteNot sure I/S :-)
ReplyDelete"Radio New Zealand is now reporting that Mr Key says that he may have received the email but not opened it."
The National Party has an incredibly effective system of Chinese walls. The campaign manager and Don Brash are meeting with the EB and poor olde John Key is completely out of the loop because he didn't read the urgent, important and strictly confidential File item: 24 May 2005 Confidential letter.doc addressed directly to him and Don Brash.
Don Brash is famous for reading (and replying to) his email. Are we really supposed to believe that he conveniently didn't read this one? As excuses go, its incredibly weak...
