Well, those are better. The Roman Empire analogy is tempting, but I'm not sure it's accurate. The USA are so isolationist, not expansionist. In fact, they are rather like the Chinese in that respect - gives us our due respect and don't interefer, and we'll be happy.
I think the only reasons for their internationalism are security; security of oil supply, and nuclear security. In contrast, the Romans were motivated by greed.
