I agree absolutely with Fisk on this. The worrying thing is this. If his enemies can admire Saddam's dignity and courage in the face of death and abuse, what will his friends make of this?

But I can understand the pressure for the people who suffered most to be involved in the hanging. We know better, but Iraq is still a very young (semi) Democracy. These lessons are always learned hard.
