The instinctive response of the powerful to deny, deny, deny any allegations against them often produces amusing absurdities. But the best one in a while has to go to former SDL campaign director Jale Baba, who in response to allegations that his party had stuffed ballot boxes during Fiji's 2006 election, said:
"I will be taking Foster to court for taping our conversation at JJ's hotel which I strongly deny took place"
Of course, if it didn't take place, it can hardly have been taped, can it?
