Who would sponsor a blog category anyway? It's so diverse, covering everything from personal LJs to Public Address, and every topic from food to politics, that there's no one organisationthat really seems appropriate.

I agree that it is pretty diverse. From time to time I toy with the idea of setting up our own Blog awards for NZ blogs, but I really don't have the technical skills.
Nope. I was a finalist once, when it was decided by a panel of judges, but I just don't have the readership to win a "people's choice" award, regardless of what I post.
Public Address won it last year, and was a deserving winner.
