The theft charge against Subway worker Jackie Lang for sharing her free staff drink with a distressed friend have been dropped. Of course, this is only half the battle - Subway must still be held to account for this shocking treatment of one of their workers. But its a damn good start, and it shows what you can achieve if you get some friends and make some noise.

In it, he calls the employee a "thief" and likens her act to baby-killing and suicide bombing, among other atrocities. There's also a cunning little paragraph where he all but calls her "evil" -- but of course he doesn't say it outright; he merely implies she is evil by juxtaposition.
Classy.
No points for guessing who's ultimately to blame.

Peter Cresswell has blown all credibility with this one. He seems to have decided not to bother actually doing some, you know, research, and has instead gone off half cock about how Jackie is a thief and comparing her to baby killers and terrorists. The reason?

Ah, Peter, she's allowed free premix soda under her employment agreement. That's like a legally binding contract, you know? Those things you libertarians think our entire society should be based on?
Given this, sharing a drink you are legally entitled to is a long way from the kind of straight out theft you make it out to be. Anyone sensible understands it would be almost impossible to successfully prosecute in a court of law, and also understands that even if it were to be found a technical breach it was in any case trivial and entirely unintentional. That's why the police have dropped the charges.
To villify this poor woman in the way Peter has is disgraceful and inhuman. Paired with Duncan Bayne's insane ramblings on this topic one really has to wonder what kind of sick creatures inhabit NZ's libertarian movement.
Come on Peter, do the decent thing. Admit you're wrong, send the poor woman an apology and hang your fucking head in shame.
