For the past six weeks, Amnesty International has been touring New Zealand on a campaign to raise awareness about human rights abuses in China. The centrepiece of the campaign is a petition to the Chinese government, in the form of a large, colourful, Chinese parade lion. But now the campaign is over, and its time for the lion's last roar: being presented to the Chinese Embassy in Wellington.
When: Tuesday, 5 June, 13:00
Where: Chinese Embassy, Kelburn Parade Glenmore St, Wellington (right opposite the botanic gardens)
I don't know how many people signed it, but they were running out of room when it hit Palmerston North.
Another of the organisations that actually does nothing but costs tax payers dollars and cons the public.
ReplyDeleteThey are stopping over in NZ on their way to Fiji to negotiate freedom for murderers of Rabaka and they gonna have a word with his mum for inciting the media and public.
That's Glenmore Street opposite the Gardens, not Kelburn Parade...
ReplyDeletePhil: Bollocks! Fixed. I saw the word "Kelburn" and got it wrong from there (though it doesn't help that its perilously close to the Riemann cut, where Wellington's geography goes non-Euclidian. Someone must have a Great Old One up there somewhere...)

ReplyDeletehave you considered starting to delete some of the troll comments? I know it's not your policy, but the last few months have seen lots of nonsensical little comments from Anon's. The main problem is that these clutter up the comments page and make reading it less worthwhile.
It'd be "sense-or-shit", a mild form of censorship intended only to keep things looking pretty. It would only take you a few clicks now and then.

ABC: I have, but quite apart from the freedom of speech issue, there's the fact that I am lazy. The blog eats too much of my time as it is, and I am simply unwilling to devote the effort to read and judge every comment.
ReplyDelete(And yes, it's pissing me off too. Some days, I wish for the revival of the Sewer, just so the creeps have somewhere to call home rather than bothering the rest of us).
The Chinese Embassy is such a weird building - it has the most beautiful lower floor, but just looks hideous above that.
