So, John Key has apparently changed his mind on backing the government's Therapeutic Products and Medicines Bill. Except now he claims that he hasn't, and that he was "misrepresented". But reading Audrey Young's blog on the issue, which includes transcripts of her interview with Key, it is very clear that the only person misrepresenting John Key is John Key.
This seems to be a habit with Key. But trying to be all things to all people by remaining silent on policy can only take you so far - eventually people want you to come clean and say what you actually stand for. Unfortunately, Key seems to be trying to maintain his status as political jello by outright deceit and hoping that the voters are too stupid to notice when he's telling the media one thing then denying it the very next day. It's a bad reminder of National's past lies (a "decent society", anyone?), and this voter, for one, is not very impressed.
