What other people are saying in reaction to yesterday's High Court decision questioning the legality of abortions in New Zealand:
- Craig Young gives a short history of the abortion debate in New Zealand, and calls for decriminalisation;
- Ari of Still Truckin' points out the consequences of restricting abortion rights, and analyses the human rights issues. Short version: "treating women like children while treating fetuses like adults is definitely the wrong way around."
- The Ex-Expat and Ideologially Impure call for law reform to allow abortion on demand.
- Stargazer points out that the fundies are organised and mobilised, and we will have no choice to respond.
Meanwhile, looking at Technorati and Google Blog Search, it's quite telling that all of the sewerbloggers praising the decision are male. It's also telling that the "official" Labour blog, The Standard, has been totally silent on the issue. Great way to stand up for liberal values, guys.
Update: The Standard has now posted here; turns out they'd been waiting for their guest-post to come through.
