Lowering the flag on Iraq

The British Army officially ends its presence in Iraq today. Good. The Iraq war was not a moral war, but rather an illegal war of aggression founded on lies and torture. The occupation which followed simply reinforced that crime. The British government's spin on their departure is of a proud legacy, but a giant war crime (not to mention various subsidiary crimes of torture and murder carried out by those "proud" soldiers) and 179 pointless deaths are nothing to be proud of. Instead it is something people should be held to account for. And now that the UK's part in the occupation is over, that process can hopefully begin.
