First Tuesday in November is election day in the US, and while its not an election year for Presidential or federal midterms, there are a number of state elections and referenda happening, and gay rights in the US are hanging in the balance:
- In Maine, voters are voting on a "people's veto" of that state's same-sex marriage law [results]
- In New Jersey, pro-same-sex marriage Governor Jon Corzine is facing a strong challenge from Republican Chris Christie [results]
- In Washington, a "people's veto" campaign means that the state's domestic partnership (AKA civil union) law must be approved by a referendum [results].
