Banned

The Cluster Munitions Prohibition Act 2009, which bans the use, development, possession, and transfer of cluster munitions by New Zealanders, members of the New Zealand Defence Force, and New Zealand companies, unanimously passed its third reading last night. Good. Cluster bombs are a totally indiscriminate weapon which make no distinction between military and civilian targets and are intentionally designed to create a long-term danger to civilian lives. They are a scourge on humanity. And I'm glad that Aotearoa is doing its bit to outlaw them internationally by ratifying the Convention on Cluster Munitions.

If only they were as devoted to fixing climate change...
