Costa Rica went to the polls today in presidential and parliamentary elections, and elected their first woman president. Laura Chinchilla of the National Liberation Party swept the poll with 47% of the vote. Sadly, she's a conservative who opposes abortion and same-sex marriage - but its still a step forward for equality.
