Justice for Bloody Sunday

On 30 January 1972, British soldiers murdered 14 civil rights protesters in Derry, Northern Ireland. Now, after one of the longest inquiries in UK history, it seems the killers will face justice. the Saville inquiry, begun in 1998 and due to finally report back next week, will apparently conclude that the killings were unlawful. And this will mean the soldiers who pulled the triggers or gave the orders to do so could face prosecution.

Good. Soldiers who shoot civilians need to be held to account. So do the governments who order them. While this has taken almost thirty years, during which time some of the guilty will almost certainly have died, justice delayed is better than no justice at all.
