Sacked for opposing torture

On Friday, PJ Crowley, a senior US State Department official, was asked what he thought of the revolting treatment of alleged Wikileaker Bradley Manning. He responded with the only answer a decent person could give: that it was "ridiculous and counterproductive and stupid". Today, he was forced to resign for it.

That's the sort of country the US is now: where the government tortures its domestic political opponents, and those who speak out against it are silenced.
