The Herald picks up the Wayne Mapp crony appointment story today, and adds a startling fact:
Prime Minister John Key said he was happy with the process and the quality of the candidate.So, Key is happy for people to be appointed to a powerful, well-remunerated government body with no advertisement, no interview, no shortlist, basically no process to see if they really are the best candidate for the job. I guess this is what he calls "higher standards of government".
