A ballot for a member's bill was held today, and the following bill was drawn:
- Education (Charter Schools Abolition) Amendment Bill (Chris Hipkins)
Given the state of the order paper, it'll likely be a year until this bill gets its first reading - which will nicely time it for election year. Unfortunately, the Maori Party backs charter schools (because iwi want to profit from them), so it doesn't have a hope in hell.
It was a full ballot again today, with 80 bills up for selection. The opposition is doing its job presenting policy alternatives, while National seems to be spamming the ballot with minor measures which should really be government legislation. The full list of bills can be found
