Yesterday Labour MP Clayton Cosgrove announced he would
stand down at or before the next election. Good riddance. I've had a hate on for Cosgrove ever since he
voted against civil unions in 2004, so I'm glad to see the back of him. If you needed another reason to celebrate his departure, he was on the right of Labour's caucus, took
gifts from Sky City and money from
Independent Fisheries, and
rorted us as a Minister. For the Labour fans, he was also notorious for running electorate-only campaigns while ignoring the party vote, putting his personal prestige ahead of his party's success. The sooner he leaves Parliament and makes way for someone else, the better.
