The Justice Committee has
called for submissions on the
Referendums Framework Bill. The Bill does what it says on the label - establishes a framework for referenda. Things you may want to address in your submission:
- Whether the bill should apply only at the 2020 election, or whether it should establish a permanent framework to enable the government to consult voters more often;
- Whether Cabinet should set referendum questions, or whether they should require the approval of Parliament;
Submissions can be made online at the link above, and are due by
16 September 2019.
