There's been a bunch of elections in the last week, and - so far - they all seem to be going the same way. In Serbia Vučić is out, losing to the leftist, anti-corruption Student List. In Brazil, Lula has been re-elected, and Bolsonaro Jnr has fled the country to avoid prosecution for corruption. And in Israel, it looks like Netanyahu is out, though its not clear if anyone else is in to replace him (because Israeli parties are racist and refuse to work with Arab-Israeli representatives).
There's a common theme in all of these victories: people actually showed up to vote. Turnout in Serbia went from 59% last election to 69% this time. In Brazil, turnout unusually went up for the runoff round. In Israel, turnout seems to have gone from 71% in 2022 to 78% this time.
There's a lesson here for us: while the regime has tried to suppress the vote, if people who want change turn out and vote for it, we can still topple them. And given the closeness of the polls, it probably won't take much.
Early voting is open. Find a polling place, get your family and friends,a nd go off and vote for regime change. We can have nice things, if we actually vote for them.
