The Alliance are right - Jim Anderton has sold out completely. First there's his brain-fart on company tax, then there's his plagarism of National's 1998 student debt policy, and now he wants to reposition the Progressives as "a pro-business party with a social conscience". Which is better than a pro-business party without a social conscience (otherwise known as ACT), but still not exactly what the left is looking for.
We need a party to the left of Labour to help it hold the line on social policy against those who want to sacrifice it chasing the spectre of "growth". And that is why we need the Alliance.
