Failed

The wowser's bid for a referendum on prostitution law reform has failed, falling 70,000 signatures short.

Hopefully the same will happen with their efforts on civil unions (assuming they try).

They have only eight months left until the next election, and cracks are starting to show in their caucus already. Ohdearwhatashamenevermind.

And I suspect that Labour would put its collective feet down if the United Fundies tried to engage in such antics.

Hahahah another defeat for Maxim- who were behind the scenes in charge of this one.
What the hell is the point of a fundamentalist-Christian-in-neo-con- drag think tank if they cant even get a 270,000 signatures to oppose this when we were told again and again "the majority of ordinary New Zealanders oppose this bill" Absolutely pathetic
Jesus they have the money, they have the big staff, the time.... I hope their American backers start to reexamine their investment in this bunch of Muppets

Not at all suprising that they failed really.
Imagine trying to be a motivational vocal minority in a country where nobody gives a flying fuck.

Meh, Personally, I don't think that prostitution is immoral.. perhaps distasteful, but not immoral.

What I think is immoral is people who expect goods and services for sex, when they are not in a contract for such services... such as a woman I know who "doesn't consider herself a prostitute" but is perfectly prepared to have sex with people she doesn't like very much to get goods and services from them - like a new car stereo or repares to her VCR.

My only real problems are with the dishonesty and the health risks.

And congratulations for them managing to get that many people on any survey in NZ.. hell, trying to get any NZers to have enough of an opinion to take any action whatsoever has to be a frikken miracle. Hallelujah! ..pass the beer-nuts.
