Punishing the witnesses

Nine months ago, Uzbek human rights activist Saidjahan Zainabiddinov was an eyewitness to the Uzbek regime's brutal massacre of protestors at Andijan. During the massacre, he stayed near Andijan's central square, feeding information to journalists and western embassies, and afterwards he was widely quoted as saying that up to 500 people had died. In the aftermath of the trial, he was arrested, and now he is facing a secret trial, reportedly on charges of "undermining the constitutional system" and "assisting terrorism". Thus does the Uzbek regime punish those who dare to speak out about its crimes...
