I've blogged a couple of times about Palmerston North City Council's and Mighty River Power's plan to develop a windfarm in a reserve behind Massey University. Now that plan may have hit a snag: the Department of Conservation thinks that changing the purpose of the Reserve to include renewable electricity generation may contravene the Reserves Act.
The Reserves Act 1977 is not a piece of legislation I'm overly familiar with, and so I can't see what the problem is. But DOC has a "drop everything" policy on OIA requests, so hopefully I'll be able to find out in the next week or two...
