New Zealand has topped the Global Peace Index, making us officially the most peaceful country in the world. That's quite an achievement, and a testament to Labour's foreign policy while in power.
Drilling down, the major bad spots in our ranking are "military capability / sophistication", and "Perceptions of criminality in society", which measures the level of distrust in other citizens. The latter is driven by systematic over-reporting of crime and dishonest fearmongering from politicians. We'd be a lot better as a society without either.
