Today is Member's Day. First up there's some local business to get through - the second reading of the Hutt City Council (Graffiti Removal) Bill - and then we get on to the real business. Today's big bill is Russel Norman's Overseas Investment (Restriction on Foreign Ownership of Land) Amendment Bill, and its first up. After that we've got Chris Auchinvole's Habeas Corpus Amendment Bill, which shouldn't be controversial as it implements an old Law Commission recommendation, and then Annette King's Local Government (Salary Moderation) Amendment Bill. If the House moves quickly, they might make a start on Todd McClay's Prohibition of Gang Insignia in Government Premises Bill. Which will likely mean a ballot for two bills tomorrow.
Marriage equality is steadily moving up the Order Paper, and barring urgency looks likely to receive its first reading on Suffrage Day. Which is rather apt.
