CIA admits torture

CIA director Michael Hayden has admitted to Congress that the CIA waterboarded suspected terrorists. He made excuses and attempted to justify this unjustifiable act, but the fact remains: the CIA tortured prisoners, in contravention of both international and US law. The question now is what Congress is going to do about it. And if the answer is anything less than commencing a full inquiry with the ultimate goal of putting everyone involved - from the torturers who held these screaming men down and poured water down their throats, to the doctors and psychologists who carefully checked their health and certified that they could be safely tortured, to the bureaucrats and lawyers who developed the policy and the legal excuses, to the politicians who personally approved it for each victim - behind bars for a very long time, then the entire US legislature becomes complicit.
