Some "Labour" government

For the past month, Correction Inmate Employment instructors belonging to the Corrections Association have been engaging in low-level industrial action in an attempt to get their pay increased for the first time in four years. Part of this struggle has involved the Corrections Association's President, Beven Hanlon, explaining his unions stance in the media. And so today, the Department of Corrections threatened to fire him for it. Which immediately begs the question: what the hell sort of a "Labour" government is this? And isn't this crossing the line into punishing an employee for union activity, in breach of the Employment Relations Act?

I wouldn't have too much sympathy for those pigs if I were you.

If you had any idea how some staff (those who tell the truth for example) are abused, threatened and persecuted by those who are supposed to be their colleagues you might think differently.

The average staff member in NZ prisons has an IQ of around 20 I would say, and a level of class and culture that makes those they are supposed to be minding seem like decent, caring, honest men in comparison.

Did you know the prison officers put human faeces into the bags of women staff and management did nothing to support the abused women - in fact they still encourage the abuse and sexual harassment of women - if you are an abused women don't complain you life will be over – the only ‘women’ who prosper in that job are those who will have sex with anything and who even worse ignorant pigs than the ‘men’.

I hope those drunken pornography addicted pigs get what they have deserved for decades – you think Rickards and co are bad try meeting some of that lot.

NZ it littered with women who have suffered like Louise Nicholas she is so lucky to have family and other supporters, mostly nobody cares.

Anon: while having a generally low opinion of Corrections Officers myself, that doesn't mean they should be denied basic employment rights - which is what the Department is doing.
