Finally consented

The Board of Inquiry has released its final decision on Mighty River Power's proposed Turitea windfarm, and reaffirmed its draft decision to only grant consent for 60 of the proposed 105 turbines. So, Mighty River's special pleading has failed.

The question now is whether they think its economically viable to continue. I'm hoping they won't; wind farms are great, but not in reserves. There are plenty of other places around the country (and even in the Manawatu and Tararua) with good wind speeds which don't involve perverting the Reserves Act like this.
