The usual ballot for Member's Bills was held today, and the following bills were drawn:
- Dog Control (Cancellation of Microchipping Requirements) Amendment Bill (Jeanette Fitzsimons)
- Easter Sunday Shop Trading Amendment Bill (Jacqui Dean)
- Waste Minimisation (Solids) Bill (Nandor Tanczos)
- Dog Control (Epilepsy Assist Dogs) Amendment Bill (Sandra Goudie)
Three of these bills have already been discussed (you can find them on the index here), while Jeanette's bill is new.
As usual, the minor parties (with the exception of the Maori party - come on, guys) are making good use of the ballot, with only NZ First not using its full allocation (it has only five bills rather than the possible six). National has fifteen, which sounds impressive but is still a long way short of Don Brash's stated aim of having every member have a bill in. Meanwhile, Labour has a mere three. Surely they can do better than that?
