Relief

Parliament is back in session - which means I should have a steady stream of local politics to blog about. Assuming that is that it's not just more tennis balls / minor traffic accidents / false claims from Investigate magazine...

Wednesday is a Member's Day, and looking at the Order Paper, there'll be a debate on the interim report of Sue Kedgley's Employment Relations (Flexible Working Hours) Amendment Bill, as well as a first reading of Jackie Blue's Human Tissue (Organ Donation) Amendment Bill. I expect the latter will probably go to committee, just so the matter can be discussed. There should be a ballot on Thursday, and hopefully there'll be some more bills in it; the list is beginning to look a little thin.

Finally, we now have three bills being voluntarily delayed and held "below the line" by their sponsors, presumably while they try and build a majority. Georgina Beyer's Gender Identity bill is joined by Sue Kedgely's Consumer’s Right to Know (Food Information) Bill and Rodney's Local Government (Rating Cap) Amendment Bill, the former being delayed until mid-June, the latter until the end of July. Though I guess in Rodney's case he might just be too busy dancing...
