Discriminatory, illegal, and wrong

On the front page of the Dominion-Post yesterday morning: some Auckland high schools are banning pupils from taking same-sex partners to their school ball unless they sign a contract saying they are gay. It's discriminatory, it's illegal, and it's wrong. It's also failing to provide a safe and respectful environment for their pupils which allows them to develop regardless of who they are. But most of all, it makes you wonder what century these schools are trapped in. The nineteenth, perhaps?
