Not a members' day

Today was supposed to be a members' day. However, last week, the House was in urgency, which means Tuesday lasted all week (till 18:00 Friday, in fact), so there was no Wednesday, despite what the rest of us might remember. Members' days are held on alternate Wednesdays, so no Wednesday equals no members' day. Simple.

(I wish I could do that. It would be handy for avoiding undesirable but ill-defined appointments...)

So, instead of getting members' business, we're getting... adopted members' business. That's right - the government has not only adopted the Greens' Waste Minimisation Bill; they've pushed it to the top of the Order paper, ahead of the ETS. Another policy victory for the Greens...

All going well, the ETS should pass about 20:00 - 20:30 tonight - just in time for the end of the world.
